The article describes elderly Jewish/Americans, now living in Israel, who have generally been life-long Democrats. They are voting for McPalin. These are people who have lived through the Holocaust, and are living now surrounded by Islamic nations, bent on finishing the genocide that in the mind of the murderous, psychotic 'Ahhck-My Dinner's Bad', never happened. The article focuses on the oldest known abroad voter, a 105 year old woman. I realize that the fact that Israel is surrounded by it's enemies makes them acutely aware that National Security is of paramount concern in this election. Why is the collective memory of the American Electorate so short and clouded with denial about 9-11 and the fact that we were attacked by terrorists that want to wipe the USA and all it stands for off the map? The Holocaust happened more than six decades ago! The events of 9-11 happened LESS than one decade ago.
We ALL watched the horror of being attacked on our own soil. It seems though that we saw it as we see a disaster movie and that we walked out of the 'theater' and left the truth of the attack behind. Conversely, these elderly Jewish/American voters were tortured, treated as if not human and nearly exterminated as a people. They suffered these atrocities without it being broadcast in real time across the globe, and yet here they are old and not about to forget what happens when good people do nothing about the very real threats the world faces today. They are voting, even though many are Democrats, for the McCain/Palin ticket knowing that the evil leaders of this world must be dealt with strongly and soundly defeated -- not coddled.
I can only hope that there will be many throngs of American voters of all parties and mindsets on November 4th that will follow the meaningful example of a 1o5 year old, female Democrat in Israel.
