My New Favorite Website
General Matt
Unrelated to that, but related to the frightening revelations of the day, I'd like to repeat a great quote from Tammy's competitor today:
"Before redistribution comes confiscation, and after comes exerting control backed up by the force of law. Redistribution is the least frightening part of socialism. What comes before and after is what shocks like a Taser."
Don't tase me, Bro, or the next TammyCon might have to be in my new home of Wasilla, AK.

A British editor and politician prominent in the discussion of climate change has written an open letter to John McCain criticizing statements the Republican candidate has made about global warming.
The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, who was an adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, sought to keep Al Gore’s global warming documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” out of public schools in Britain, and in March 2007 challenged Gore to a debate on climate change.
Now in his letter to McCain, published on the Web site American Thinker, Monckton calls manmade global warming fears “scientifically discredited” and advises, “Not for a single moment longer must you allow yourself to be distracted by the murderous foolishness of the climate alarmists.”
Monckton quotes a McCain statement that “we need to deal with the central facts of rising temperatures.”
Monckton, saying he bases his assertions on “peer-reviewed scientific literature,” counters, “For most of the past 600 million years, the temperature that most often prevailed globally is thought to have been 12.5 degrees higher than today’s temperature . . .
“From 1700 to 1998, temperature rose at a near-uniform rate of about 1 degree per century. In 1998, ‘global warming’ stopped, and it has not resumed since. Indeed, in the past seven years, temperature has been falling at a rate equivalent to as much as 0.7 degrees per decade.”
Responding to McCain’s statement that greenhouse gases, chiefly carbon dioxide, “are heavily implicated as a cause of climate change,” Monckton writes, “Two-thirds of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is naturally present, and carbon dioxide occupies just one ten-thousandth more of the atmosphere today than it did 250 years ago.”
Monckton, who was an editor and writer with Britain’s Evening Standard newspaper, quotes McCain, “We need to deal with the central facts of . . . rising waters.”
He counters, “Sea level has been rising since the end of the last ice age 10,000 years ago . . . The rate of increase has averaged four feet per century. Yet in the 20th century, when we are told that ‘global warming’ began to have a major impact on global temperature and hence on sea level, sea level rose by just eight inches.”
Then in a swipe at Al Gore, whom he does not mention by name, Monckton observes, “There is not and has never been any scientific basis for the exaggerated projections by a certain politician that sea level might imminently rise by as much as 20 feet.
“That politician, in the year in which he circulated a movie containing that projection, bought a $4 million condominium just feet from the ocean at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco.”
Monckton also seeks to refute statements McCain has made on receding glaciers, melting polar ice sheets, extreme weather events, threats to polar bears, and more.
And in reference to the candidate’s stated support for efforts to control climate change by reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, Monckton tells McCain: "With every respect, there is no rational basis for your declared intention that your great nation should inflict upon her own working people and upon the starving masses of the Third World the extravagantly pointless, climatically irrelevant, strategically fatal economic wounds that the arrogant advocates of atmospheric alarmism admit they aim to achieve.”
GO DR. MONCKTON!!

What Pennsylvanians Are
Kathy

My Mother, Jan Keenan, was working last night at the Palin Rally in Beaver, PA. She brought her camera with her, wanting to capture some more photos of our Sarah. She had been at the rally in Washington, PA and had taken some great shots of SP at that time.
Mom took no pictures of SP at this rally. There are some far-off shots of the stage. She took pics before and after that showed the entire stadium. She was in a far off section, in the bleachers having been assigned to help w/ the handicapped. This precious boy became the focal point of her evening. A sweet 5 year old with Autism. She provided him with the flag. His happy spirit in waving it touched the hearts of all who saw him.
Is this the product of those 'racist, redneck' PA folk that Murtha hates on? The ones that BHO belittled as bitter and clingy??
This is who we are fighting for in this election. He is my inspiration today. As poignant as a Dickens' Tiny Tim.
May God Bless US.... everyone.

I've been in constant touch with the PUMAs, Nobamas, and other disaffected Democrats (and some real libs), forwarding them articles and links. And some of the ones I've sent to you have come from them. It's been interesting to watch them slowly understand the truth. Much like Tammy's past, they have been entrenched in misguided hatred/fear of "Conservatives." Now their eyes are opening to the ugly reality of the Left. They aren't running out and registering as Republicans, just thinking and acting with a new understanding of which group of people actually is the most extreme, deceitful, and unhealthy.
Today I sent them an article by Neal Boortz, "To the Undecided Voter." It's excellent. In his usual sarcastic tone (which I relate to, far too well), he presents some of the remaining compelling issues to consider when they actually step into the voting booth. I sent this to you all via email, and regardless of where you get the link I hope you'll read and pass on where applicable. Below the link, I've pasted the intro:
To the Undecided Voter
"This is long; very long. Hey, I’m a pretty entertaining writer … so give it a go. If you’re an undecided voter in this presidential election the least you owe your country is to try to base your final choice on some substantive facts. No, I don’t have all the facts here … but I have enough of them to perhaps convince you that voting one particular way on November 4th might not be the most brilliant move you’ve ever made.
This election is my 10th. My 10th presidential election since I became a radio talk show host. My 10th election since I began spending more time than the average American thinking about, researching, reading about and talking about the choices voters faces. Look; I mean no arrogance here. It’s just that the average American doesn’t spend from 15 (then) to 22.5 (now) hours a week over the period of a presidential race talking about the candidates, the issues, the non-issues and the consequences of voter choice.
Never in those ten elections can I remember choices so stark and possible outcomes so perilous. For the record, over those 10 elections I voted for the Republican candidate six times and the Libertarian four. Never have I voted for a Democrat for president. I see no need to vote for a Democrat since I have no plans or desires to become a ward of the government. Somehow I don’t think 2008 is going to be the first time.
I’ve noted that some other “pundits” out there are starting to post, in columns and in their blogs, the reasons they are going to vote the way they are going to vote. I’ll make no attempt here to refute their (oh-so refutable) arguments here. Instead, I’m just going to put my thoughts and reasoning in writing just to cleanse my mind. If you can make some use of them; whether it is for laughter, talking points or intellectual consideration, have at it. Me? I’m just pulling the handle..."

Believers and Deceivers
pat ess
Sowell includes the media among Obama's true believers, supporting him because they like him. I disagree. They do like him but they differ significantly from his other supporters in that it is not blind belief. They know what Obama means by change. They know all about him. They are in fact the ones suppressing information that might produce skeptics. When one thinks of all the men who have put their lives on the line in battle to defend and preserve this country, it is especially painful to think that there are people living in the safety and comfort of civilian life who cannot be bothered to find out the facts about candidates before voting to put the fate of this nation, and of generations yet to come, in the hands of someone chosen because they like his words or style.
To one extent Obama is right in saying McCain is a continuation of Bush. He means Bush's policies but in my opinion where McCain is most like Bush is in his ineptness to convey a message. The media won't tell us about Obama and McCain is censoring himself. That's not quite the same kind of ineptness as Bush, but the consequences are just as terrible.
Believers in Obama
Telling a friend that the love of his life is a phony and dangerous is not likely to get him to change his mind. But it may cost you a friend.
Of the four people running for President and Vice President on the Republican and Democratic tickets, the one we know the least about is the one leading in the polls--Barack Obama.
Some of Senator Obama's most fervent supporters could not tell you what he has actually done on such issues as crime, education, or financial institutions like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, much less what he plans to do to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear nation supplying nuclear weapons to the international terrorist networks that it has supplied with other weapons.
The magic word "change" makes specifics unnecessary. If things are going bad, some think that what is needed is blank-check "change."
But history shows any number of countries in crises worse than ours, where "change" turned problems into catastrophes.
[...]
What specifics do we know about Barack Obama's track record that might give us some clue as to what kinds of "changes" to expect if he is elected?
We know that he opposed the practice of putting violent young felons on trial as adults. We know that he was against a law forbidding physicians to kill a baby that was born alive despite an attempt to abort it.
We know that Obama opposed attempts to put stricter regulations on Fannie Mae-- and that he was the second largest recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae. We know that this very year his campaign sought the advice of disgraced former Fannie Mae CEO Franklin Raines. Fannie Mae and Raines were at the heart of "the mess in Washington" that Barack Obama claims he is going to clean up under the banner of "change."
The public has been told very little about what this man with the wonderful rhetoric has actually done. What we know is enough to make us wonder about what we don't know. Or it ought to. For the true believers-- which includes many in the media-- it is just a question of whether you like him or not.

You can access the video at the following link to their site: http://www.calnurse.org/
This is a union organization for nurses with different chapters throughout the country. It is also a strong proponent of universal healthcare.
In response to the exchange between Jenkins and Bauer this morning, I wrote the following to the California Nurses Association with a direct address to the video and to Ms. Jenkins:
After viewing Geri Jenkins' interview on Fox News this morning, I wish to point out a few things directly to Ms. Jenkins herself.
Ms. Jenkins, you are not John McCain's nurse nor do you have the capacity to diagnose his condition.
We have known for many years that Sen. McCain has been dealing with skin cancer. No news there. His condition has not obstructed his capacity in which to serve as a U. S. Senator, and I have every confidence that he can serve as our president. Furthermore, where were you when we demanded to see former President Clinton's health records that were completely sealed from view?
The video your organization is running is disgusting and false. Gov. Palin did not charge victims of rape for rape kits. That lie has long been put to rest along with the librarian non-issue (and other little deceptive gems your organization added). Apparently, The California Nurses Association has not caught up with the truth or bothered looking into it. Continuing such smears and complete falsehoods against Gov. Palin serves as nothing more than a desperate ploy to foist your candidate upon the rest of us at all costs - including the costs of having a universal healthcare plan that has proven disastrous for millions where it has been implemented.
Ms. Jenkins, I wish to add that in your appearance this morning on television, you were quite rude. In addition to interrupting the host, you could not engage in a decent discussion - only non-stop running of the mouth. Besides trying to establish yourself as being more competent than McCain's physicians, you were just rude to the host - period.
Perhaps you should seek medical attention for the diarrhea-of-the-mouth phenomena from which you suffer before pretending to be an expert on McCain's health. I can also assure you that you are not an expert on the health of this nation - that despicable video your organization is running is proof.
Sincerely,
Lisa A. Ruth

Call for ‘grassroots effort’ to help boost campaign
By Aaron Klein
© 2008 WorldNetDaily
The names of four former top leaders of the Weathermen terrorist organization are listed as signatories on an online petition calling for an “independent grassroots effort” to help strengthen Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign.
The petition was initiated by Progressives for Obama, an independent organization acting to ensure the Illinois senator’s election.
Progressives includes among its ranks many former members of the 1960s radical organization Students for a Democratic Society, or SDS, from which the Weathermen splintered, as well as current and former members of other radical organizations, such as the Communist Party USA and the Black Radical Congress.

Let Us Pray ... to Obama? - Political Machine
( http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/09/30/let-us-pray-to-obama/?icid=200100397x1210854480x1200656989)
Mo brings in the idea that some worship Palin as Mary just as there are those worshipping Obama as Christ. I sure have not seen anything that equated Palin with Mary, by the way. I think people of faith reserve their worship for Christ and see in Sarah Palin someone who shares those values - not someone who is looking to be worshipped herself. So on that note, I disagree with Mo's thoughts.
Barack Obama on the other hand...
