Prosecutor says just a citizen thing.
The prosecutor in the interview issued a statement that she was speaking only as a private citizen. This is possibly true but nevertheless it is undeniable the intent was to intimidate people. She did not make it clear in her interview she was speaking only as a citizen. Her choice of words tossing in the bit about Missouri ethics laws being violated was a blatant attempt to suggest she was speaking as a law enforcement official. Why the hell is Obama specifically seeking out law enforcement officials for his truth squad? If the TV station is guilty of irresponsible editing giving a false impression, this chick didn't point that out in her statement. It's double, maybe triple irony for her to complain about truth being distorted.
Gov. Blunt's statement is useless insofar as his official capacity. It's a scolding. These people at minimum should be reprimanded and issue an apology to the public for misleading them. That would not be sufficient for me though. They should be fired and the prosecutors possibly disbarred. If they were not speaking in an official capacity, they had to make that abundantly clear at the outset.

Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

——————————
JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.
“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.
“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.
“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.
“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

The Weekly Standard reports:
Henry Kissinger believes Barack Obama misstated his views on diplomacy with US adversaries and is not happy about being mischaracterized. He says: “Senator McCain is right. I would not recommend the next President of the United States engage in talks with Iran at the Presidential level. My views on this issue are entirely compatible with the views of my friend Senator John McCain. We do not agree on everything, but we do agree that any negotiations with Iran must be geared to reality.”

Palin & Obama: What really is wisdom?
The race unfortunately has been framed the last two weeks by Democrats as one of Obama versus Palin. That will stop as Obama realizes he loses should it continue. Nevertheless, the comparison of the respective experiences of a McCain and Obama is so much in favor of the former, that it requires no discussion...
Obama Faith Forum Flops
What happens when you hold an Evangelical Outreach event in Lynchburg, Virginia, home to Jerry Falwell's Liberty University, and no one shows up? That's exactly what happened last week when Dr. Shaun Casey, Obama's Evangelical Outreach Coordinator, hosted a faith forum and just 15 people showed up. Liberty University is home to over 10,000 Evangelical students from across the county...
A World Without America
Q. What do Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Barack Obama have in common?
A. The president of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Democratic candidate for president of the United States of America have both chosen to spend much of their lives in the company of people who are virulently hostile to this country. At least some of them seek to bring about, as Ahmadinejad puts it, a “world without America.” ...

Democrats and Double Standards: Obama's not-so-secret weapon: the media
[Obama has denounced] “the smallness of our politics” and “the chronic avoidance of tough decisions” and politicians who win by “scoring cheap political points.” All of this, he said, had led voters to look away in “disillusionment and frustration.”
“The time for that politics is over,” Obama said.

Closing the Whopper Gap

The symmetry of sin is suddenly looking more equal. Last week, I flayed John McCain for flagrant and repeated dishonesty about Barack Obama’s proposals. Obama was by no means blameless, but his lapses were nowhere near as egregious as his opponent’s. I stand by everything I wrote. But a series of new Obama attacks requires rebalancing the scales...
Fact-Checking Obama’s Conference Call to 900 Rabbis

Barack Obama held a conference call this week with more than 900 rabbis (does the Obama campaign do anything that is not on a grandiose scale?) to extend greetings to them and their congregants ahead of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year... Many in the community have concerns about Barack Obama’s support for Israel and the sincerity of the statements he has made on the campaign trail. Here is a quick fact-check after his latest expression of support for Israel..

- Who Paid for Obama's Harvard Education?
According to Percy Sutton, Khalid Al-Mansour, a Black Muslim and Black Nationalist . - George Will scathing rebuke of McCain
In any case, McCain's smear -- that Cox "betrayed the public's trust" -- is a harbinger of a McCain presidency. For McCain, politics is always operatic, pitting people who agree with him against those who are "corrupt" or "betray the public's trust," two categories that seem to be exhaustive -- there are no other people. McCain's Manichaean worldview drove him to his signature legislative achievement, the McCain-Feingold law's restrictions on campaigning. Today, his campaign is creatively finding interstices in laws intended to restrict campaign giving and spending.
The political left always aims to expand the permeation of economic life by politics. Today, the efficient means to that end is government control of capital. So, is not McCain's party now conducting the most leftist administration in American history?
Conservatives who insist that electing McCain is crucial usually start, and increasingly end, by saying he would make excellent judicial selections. But the more one sees of his impulsive, intensely personal reactions to people and events, the less confidence one has that he would select judges by calm reflection and clear principles, having neither patience nor aptitude for either.
It is arguable that McCain, because of his boiling moralism and bottomless reservoir of certitudes, is not suited to the presidency. Unreadiness can be corrected, although perhaps at great cost, by experience. Can a dismaying temperament be fixed?
I agree. Regardless of his IQ, McCain is unsuited for the Presidency and I have to vote for him anyway. -- p

There is SO much wrong with this plan, and frankly I've not heard anyone outside of the Bush Funhouse who thinks it's anything but BAD. But for me, the scariest and most unAmerican part is the prohibition of any review at all. Unbelievable that a Republican admin created this plan. Oh but this is a Bush admin... momentarily forgot that part. J
Rogoff: Taxpayers Will Owe $1 Trillion
The federal government's rescue plan comes with a very high price tag for American taxpayers. Ken Rogoff says they will be left facing a $1 trillion deficit — if not double that figure.
"I can't imagine this crisis is going to end up costing the government less than 6 to 7 percent of GDP," the former chief economist of the International Monetary Fund told the Financial Times…
Think $700 Billion Is the Limit? Think Again
…It's just the ceiling on the outstanding amount at any one time. The proposal does not in fact set forth an expenditure limit. Instead, it gives Treasury virtually imperial powers, making decisions by the Secretary "non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.".... [Unbelievable!]
Foreign Banks Will Get Treasury Support Too
It looks like foreign banks, which were initially excluded from Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson's bailout proposal, will be able to sell the toxic American mortgage debt owned by their American units to the Treasury and wind up getting the same treatment as U.S.banks.
"It's a distinction without a difference whether it's a foreign or a U.S. one," Paulson told Fox News...

The McCain campaign is expressing concerns about voter fraud especially where ACORN is concerned. It appears that ACORN has already begun their registration flood. This is a group that endorses Obama and was represented by him in the past against the state of Illinois. You can read the post here: http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/mccain_voter_fraud/2008/09/22/133361.html
We were given a taste of Chicago politics in 2000. Sure, Gore was not a Chicago guy but Bill Daley was/is (Daley being Gore's campaign manager in 2000). Daley was also one of the people responsible for bringing Joe Biden to the Obama ticket (http://www.suntimes.com/news/sneed/1124685,CST-NWS-SNEED25A.article).
Anyone not familiar with Bill, he is the brother of the current mayor of Chicago, Richard Daley, and son of the late mayor of the same name. Papa Daley is credited with the corruption of the 1960 elections tilting the presidency in JFK's favor - hence the term 'Chicago Political Machine'.
The city has a long history of political corruption & mob activity; it looks as though Richard & Bill Daley are just fine in keeping with their daddy's tradition.

Does Experience Matter in a President?
Feb. 28, 2008
David Von Drehle
Wouldn't it be nice if time on the job and tickets punched translated neatly into superior performance? Then finding great Presidents would be a simple matter of weighing résumés[Sounds like Sarah to me. --- p]
Experience, in other words, gets its value from the person who has it. In certain lives, a little goes a long way. Some people grow and ripen through years of government service; others spoil on the vine. At the same time, the value that voters place on résumé is constantly shifting.
When Americans pass over the best-credentialed candidates because their heart or their gut leads them elsewhere, they are only reflecting a visceral understanding that the presidency involves tests unlike all others. They are, perhaps, seeking the ineffable quality the writer Katherine Anne Porter had in mind when she defined experience as "the truth that finally overtakes you." An ideal President is both ruthless and compassionate, visionary and pragmatic, cunning and honest, patient and bold, combining the eloquence of a psalmist with the timing of a jungle cat. Not exactly the sort of data you can find on a résumé.
This is a recent piece on the Time blog. A different author, yes, but more importantly a different emphasis from the people at Time.

Palin Foreign Policy: Eyes Wide Shut?
Scott MacLeod
What I find more worrying than Palin's lack of experience is her lack of humility about it. "I'm ready," she declared, after Gibson challenged her to "look the country in the eye and say 'I have the experience and I have the ability'." You might be able to get away substituting self confidence for knowledge in a high school history debate, but it isn't a good mindset for a leader who may have her finger on the nuclear trigger.

I know white racism is out there but this contrived poll is grossly overstating the problem and it is incendiary. These people will stoke race wars if Obama loses. And what about this "latent", "implicit" racism among whites? How long before some ugly legislative measures will be undertaken to correct this? See you at the reeducaton camp.Statistical models derived from the poll suggest that Obama's support would be as much as 6 percentage points higher if there were no white racial prejudice.
The survey broke ground by incorporating images of black and white faces to measure implicit racial attitudes, or prejudices that are so deeply rooted that people may not realize they have them. That test suggested the incidence of racial prejudice is even higher, with more than half of whites revealing more negative feelings toward blacks than whites.
p.s. Black support for Obama is virtually unanimous.

A hacker claims to have cracked the web site of Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly and purloined a list of subscribers to the site, which includes their names, e-mail addresses, city and state, and the password they use for their registration to the site.
The attack was retaliation for comments that O'Reilly made on the air this week about web sites that published e-mails obtained from the Yahoo account of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, according to a press release distributed by WikiLeaks late Friday.
The file provides proof that the Fox News demagogue, Bill O'Reilly, has been hacked.

A Saudi Sheik issued a fatwa against TV station owners who air programs who broadcast witchcraft, indecent programs, shows mocking Islamic scholars or religious police and comedies inappropriate for Ramadan. Another Saudi cleric thinks Mickey Mouse should be killed. Rats and mice are "soldiers of Satan". Arabs, who are ambivalent or even sympathetic to fatwas against infidels, suddenly think individuals are entitled to personal choice when it comes to "Sex in the City" for them.

Script Please
Script for a McCain ad that should be running right now:
OPENING - Scan of Wall Street Journal article, "Critic of the Firms Sadly Says 'Told You.'
"Hello, my name is Peter Wallison. I served as the chief lawyer to President Ronald Reagan. For years, I've been warning that there was a big crisis coming in the mortgage market.
There weren't many people who wanted to listen - maybe because there were hundreds of millions of lobbying dollars on the other side. But there was always one person on my side - and yours. Senator John McCain.
"Senator McCain has been fighting this problem since 2002. In 2005, he sponsored legislation that could have prevented today's crisis.
"Unfortunately, Barack Obama was always on the wrong side. The lobbyists' side. Barack Obama took more money from Fannie Mae than almost anybody in the Senate. And he appointed the former head of Fannie Mae to run his vice presidential selection committee.
"John McCain was right and brave when everybody else was wrong and scared. He stood up for you - and against big money and cozy deals.
"He saw this crisis coming. He showed us how to stop out. Now he's the man to lead us out of it."
09/18 06:15 AM
***UPDATE***
I am watching McCain address this issue on a campaign stop in Wisconsin right now. He's putting out the information addressed in Frum's writings. He's also being very direct about the problem and calm - quite reassuring, in fact. This is good!

"We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people," Biden said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America."
Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden said: "It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut."
Brilliant!
My head is going to just explode!! Yeah, being in a disability income bracket, I'll be high on the list of recipients of Obama's goodies -- but I'd rather live on the streets than see America move more deeply into this kind of government philosophy and practice. It's frightening that Obama may appear to be getting a boost from this bad economic news. McCain has got to come out right this minute with guns blazing and take charge of the economic dialogue, blasting home what REALLY happened to get us this way and what his BETTER plan is to turn it around without taking even more from us. He's got to get bold.
Government bailout of private companies is one of the first things I want to see go.

SARAH PALIN'S MURDEROUS WEB OF DEATH
A taste:
Still, the coincidences seem to be piling up the way they often do - criss crossing like lines on a page drawn over each other, again and again, until the page turns into a cloud of darkness, shrouding what can only be described as an intricate pile of coincidences that appear to be criss-crossed lines. Or, a cloud of some kind.
Or shroud.
Meanwhile, as the Night Stalker continued to kill, and former Reagan cabinet members continued to die off mysteriously, Palin managed to find time helping her husband's commercial family fishing business. "Doesn't a commercial fishing vessel seem like an apt vehicle to rid an ever growing cornucopia of corpses?"
Yes, it does, and thanks for asking.
Ending her term as mayor of Wasilla in 2002, the town itself had about 6,300 residents. Now, according to 2008 statistics, there are 7,000 plus - a profoundly dramatic increase since Palin vacated the job. Where were these 700 people during her reign? No one knows - and to raise the possibility that these individuals were possibly "hidden," perhaps because they were the products of a right wing Christian baby mill, seems a tad premature. Sure, you and I both know that Hipparchus is the father of trigonometry. Yet we still don't know who the mother of Trig is.

Meeting Off the Record
General Matt
Last winter, there was an event in Orlando with Neal Boortz and Jamie Dupree (a Washington reporter who works for WSB radio in Atlanta). I was in the audience, and they sat on a stage in front discussing politics. It was a lot of fun. At one point Neal mentioned the meeting that the radio talk show hosts had with the President (the one Tammy was angry about because it was behind closed doors). Neal relayed to us that the meeting was supposed to be off the record, and then said, “Oh, what the hell” and started telling us about it! He talked about a few things inside the White House, how certain parts are not as elegant as you might think, etc. He recalled how the President let them all in and showed them around the Oval Office.
Then he said President Bush took them to a hallway off the office, that Neal said he knew to be “the Lewinsky hallway,” although I’m sure he didn’t say that at the time. The talk show hosts were somewhat nonplussed about being crowded by the President into this dark little hallway, especially when they noticed the pictures on the walls. Neal described photos of “five or six” very rough, horrible looking men. As they all observed these creepy pictures, President Bush proudly stated, “These are my Throat-cutters. They were the first ones on the ground in Afghanistan.”
He then lead them out of the dark little hall and showed them a glass box with a sword in it. “The [he named the Army unit] presented me with this. This was on Saddam Hussein when they found that son of a bitch in a hole.”
After the tour, the President sat with them and took questions. One of Neal’s questions was, “Does our government have a real life version of Jack Bauer?” The President’s answer was Yes.
So I think we can gather from all this, the true reason this meeting was off the record. Neal confirms that the President in person is much more the man we want him to be than the one we see on TV. Too bad he can’t communicate that the way Reagan did or that he is somehow ashamed of showing the public his real nature, even though we'd probably love it. (Although the media would have conniption fits if they heard some of those quotes.) Apparently, these hosts weren’t receiving marching orders, just an eye opening.

Why the Palin phenomenon is doomed
According to this guy, the media is responsible for the Palin hoopla but now she's doomed because they media is bored with her. "Media live to build you up -- then knock you down ." I missed the building up part I guess. They aren't going to tear her down. They're showing themselves for the biased lunatics they are.

An ABC video showing Pentacostalists speaking in tongues and dancing with abandon and then associate with Palin even though she left the Pentacostal church six years ago. I don't know much about the Pentacostal church but I'll bet ABC picked the scariest parts of it to show us.
More about McCain computer literacy
The Huffington Post thinks they have a rebuttal to the claims McCain's injuries prevent him from being up-to-date in the information age. He uses a blackberry and a cellphone. The irony is they are showing that he does access the Internet, he just doesn't use it for emails. I say Geraldine Ferraro on Fox and Friends this morning. She said her husband doesn't email. She also pointed out that many of those blue-collar workers in battleground states don't use email either.
